The Lake Tahoe Sports Medicine & Orthopedics Primary Care Symposium on March 20, 2026 convenes healthcare professionals to explore innovative approaches to orthopedic care, crucial for residents and visitors of the Lake Tahoe region. The one-day CME event will feature a comprehensive agenda with presentations from primary care providers and specialists providing care to our active patient population in the Sierra Mountains. Symposium speakers will cover topics including physical therapy, nutrition, orthopedic injuries, team coverage, ultrasound, women’s health, wound care, and more. Attendees will have the invaluable opportunity to earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits while engaging with esteemed speakers and peers; please bring interesting cases for the 'ask the expert' session. Come learn, teach, and collaborate with other primary care providers and healthcare specialists.

Paul Ryan
Paul Ryan MD

Orthopedic Physician
Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery
Co-chair of the Lake Tahoe Sports Medicine Primary Care Symposium

Dr. Paul Ryan is a board-certified orthopedic physician specializing in comprehensive foot & ankle surgical care, including ankle replacement, arthritis care, deformity correction, and trauma. Dr. Ryan is past president of the Hawaii Orthopedic Association. He currently serves as the Chair of the Foot & Ankle Program Committee for the American Association of Orthopedic surgeons and serves on the Public Education Committee for the American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society. Dr. Ryan remains active in academics as an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery with the University of Nevada Reno and has over forty publications in peer reviewed literature. Prior to coming to the Lake Tahoe area from Hawaii, Dr. Ryan served in the United States Army with five deployments to Afghanistan. He is an avid runner, cyclist, and triathlete.

Jeffrey Orr MD, FAAOS

Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Jeffrey Orr is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and joint replacement surgeries, including the use of the minimally invasive Mako SmartRobotics system for total knee, total hip, and partial knee joint replacement procedures. Dr. Orr provides orthopedic care to patients at Barton Health, Barton Center for Orthopedics & Wellness, and Tahoe Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and is also a medical provider for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard team, providing care to top athletes.
