• Location: San Francisco, CA 94131 (California healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Nurse Practitioner Contract)
• Setting: Outpatient neuro-spine surgery clinic (no OR or inpatient duties)
• Start Date: October 13, 2025
• End Date: April 13, 2026
• Duration: 26 weeks (4–6 months)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-time, no weekends or holidays)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $5,130–$5,500
• Patient Volume: 20–22 patients per day in person (up to 26 with telehealth)
• Support Staff: Team of 7 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), 5 surgeons, 2 physiatrists, Medical Assistants (MAs), and patient navigators
• EMR: Epic

Qualifications – Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Requirements

• Active California Nurse Practitioner license (required for California nurse practitioner jobs)
• Board certification: A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, or ACNPC
• DEA license with Schedule 2/2n authority (CA)
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in ortho spine surgery, neuro spine surgery, or pain management with spine patients (neurosurgery or neurology providers with strong neuro-spine experience considered)
• Academic medical center experience strongly preferred
• COVID-19 vaccine (with booster) required; medical/religious exemptions considered

Responsibilities – Nurse Practitioner Clinical Duties

• Deliver expert outpatient care for adult neuro-spine surgery patients (post-op and follow-up appointments)
• Conduct clinical exams, triage calls, order imaging and medications, and manage patient messages
• Perform outpatient procedures such as staple removal, drain removal, and wound care
• Opportunity to perform trigger point, hip, and/or knee injections if experienced (not required)
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care
• Support the vice chair and surgeons in all clinical aspects of the outpatient clinic
